KATV Channel 7 began construction in August 2008 of a new 1,150-foot tower on Shinall Mountain. This new tower will replace KATV's Redfield tower that collapsed during guy wire maintenance in January 2008.
Energy Roofs & Walls was selected by Cromwell Architects to coat the concrete structure with elastomeric and ceramic coatings for the purpose of reducing heat loss or gain in order to assist in maintaining constant year-round inside temperature. The concrete structure houses expensive temperature-sensitive computer equipment. The external coat of Super Therm® reflects 95% of the Sun’s energy allowing only a 5% heat load.
